Brainstorming Ideas
« on: May 02, 2009, 12:23:42 AM »
We get more ideas than we have time to implement. We created this new section of the forum reserved for ideas (half-baked ones are just as acceptable).

The idea here is to have ideas that maybe you want to work on for projects, but don't have the time or know where to start.

We have a bunch of them, so instead of having them collect dust, we wanted to share them. Maybe you will find something that you want to build or work on or explore.

I found a 5V RF relay switch for coaxial cable.  I will be using this to get the kids to cooperate when they don't want to stop watching TV.   It will be hooked into the digital output.    Once triggered, it will interrupt coaxial cable flow.  That is one way to get your kids attention.

I am also using digital input to monitor garage door state (open or closed).  I use action to text my number the status.

Next idea is to make/buy a leak/flood detector.  Also, gas water heater cycle monitor/log.

Also, would like to make a sprinkler controller using iobridge.  I have the valves and piping in place.  Have a  "dumb" controller now.  Would like the flexibility that the iobridge provides.  Routine use can be set with onboard rules.  Rain sensor.  Texting or email status.... i have 6 zones.  1 zone, per channel?  would mean 4 zones maximum.
