Some Data Logging feedback
« on: May 04, 2009, 01:19:38 PM »
Well I'm into my third day of logging, great to see how much colder each day is getting than the last ;)  Anyway I have a bit of feedback.

1.  The 'analog input' label on the graph pushes the rest of the graph a bit far out on my phone.  I see maybe 60% of the graph.  I'm not really planning to use the data in this way, but it might affect other users.

2.  Would be nice if the raw data points were allways captured and the average graph was just a view on that data.  Then it would be easy to switch between the views without losing the history.  Again it doesn't really affect my usage.

3.  Is the data also going to be available via an API call?

4. Nice to see the csv format is also using ISO date format, no changes required there :)

5. Some verticle end-of-day lines might be a nice addition on the graph.

I know what you're thinking, greedy users always want more! but apart from being able to access the csv via an API / GET, it's already more than enough for what I need.  I just wanted to offer some constructive feedback :)

PS the mouse over feature on the graph is really nice!

Data logging help

Hi,

I am having trouble logging data via the module. I followed the instructions here but still don't get any data in the graph.

http://www.iobridge.net/wiki/data-logging?s[]=logging. I have attached a screen shot of the module setting. Have I missed something?

Try setting the "Auto Message Period" to 300 or seconds or so. This will send the Analog Data to the server every 5 minutes.

My original post got a bit lost there, but just to bump it again, do I have access to my logs via an API call? possibly with date range parameters so that I only need to get the data once?

It's a good idea - we have a few other features we are also going to add to data logging. Now that we are collecting all of that data we can attach it to existing and new features.

Another question.  I've noticed in my logs some temperature and light anomalies daily around 7am (UTC+3 here at the moment).  Any ideas? do you have nightly server outages or something?  Is the data being smoothed to cover outages?

If there was an outage, the plot would just show gaps where data points aren't being recorded.  We don't have a daily service outage.  It's odd that you have some issues at 7am every day.  What is your GMT offset?  It's possible there is a bug in the plotting script.  Writing code related to time is a nightmare.

here are yesterdays light and outdoor temp, and todays temp.  The blip shows up a lot more when the temperature change is quite linear as you can see:

PS UTC+3 = GMT+3

I'm not sure what that is.  Does anyone else have similar blips at the same time?
