IoBridge call home...
« on: July 23, 2009, 01:24:07 PM »
Greetings,
I was wondering how often the IoBridge calls home to the server?
I'm developing a project to monitor a remote location that receives its Internet via Satellite.
Bandwidth usages is an issue and I need to know for my estimates.
thanks!

There is an exchange of "pings" about every 30 seconds.  Although the size of the packets are very small.  I'm not sure about actual numbers.  Let me set up a test in the lab and I'll see how much bandwidth is used over an hour.

In one hour 83 kilobytes were transferred.

The ping time isn't configurable.

Thanks for the data, I think that will be workable. :)

I had an iobridge hooked up to a Hughesnet satellite network. I can say that it worked quite well.

On the other hand, when I tried to use a eyefi card on the same network, it was rejected because " too many proxies..."

I'd sure love to see a iobridge with a wireless network adapter built in!

It would sure reduce the parts count on a project I'm currently working on.

I just did the math for day/month/year: (in SI values)

day: 1.9 mb
month: 59.76 mb
year: .72 gb
