Linux Plug Computer - An alternative to Home PC servers
« on: August 25, 2009, 05:10:41 PM »
Hey guys, just letting anyone looking for a pc alternative to check out SheevaPlug http://www.plugcomputer.org

I have been looking at this for a while and eventually will get one (too many toys to buy!) . It runs linux and has a USB port, so you could connect a hard drive, usb webcam, etc...and is all open source...There is also a commercial version called PogoPlug if your are interested in ready to go software http://www.pogoplug.com

BTW the average power consumption is ~5W !!

Also, those looking to use OSS and not be limited by the closed-source Pogo software can run OpenPogo (http://www.openpogo.com/).
