temp sensor and digital input on same channel
« on: August 30, 2009, 03:06:31 AM »
This combination seems to work fine as expected.  I can see the temperature changes and also the digital switch (magnetic door switch) changes in dash board.  I log the temperature from this sensor.  I'm also trying to get emails for the digital state changes events, but that seems to be blocked because the messageing mode is set for logging?  Or is there a message mode that will handle both?

I think you have the right idea. You can either data log and use input triggering on the same channel but not both. For what you are describing you need two channels.

Since this is a popular question we get, I thought I would post an update.

With the release of Onboard Rules, you have complete control of push messaging. You can push analog values and digital states on the same channel. Before this release you could not do both.

Under Action >> Add Push Update Rule

You can now do any of the following on each channel.

Analog Input (Push on Condition)
Analog Input (Push at Interval)
Digital Input (Push on State Change)
Digital Input (Push at Interval)
Pulse Count (Push at Limit)
Pulse Count (Push at Interval)
Pulse Count (Push at Interval and Reset Count)
