Maybe I'm doing something stupid here but....
« on: September 03, 2009, 04:56:24 PM »
Hi all,

I just got my ioBridge today and I am playing around with a temperature sensor board, which I have connected to channel 1. When I make a data log, I don't get any data graphed:

or for larger image of this:
http://jamieboy.webs.com/Data%20Log.JPG

When I hover the cursor over where the graph should be, I see it says "Analog Input: Null"

Also, in the .csv file, I can see the 10 minute date and time-stamps, as expected, but the data values themselves are missing (I am viewing in Excel, presumably they're in column B?).
I'm using Internet Explorer 8 with XP home and the latest updates for these.

Any ideas what could be going on?!

Thanks,

Jamie

P.S. I hate that my 1st post is somewhat negatively tilted (I am certain that this is something that I have done, rather than an hard/soft-ware issue) Despite this minor issue, I am loving the whole ioBridge concept, am having loads of fun and I am blown away with quality and slick implementation of this as a system generally. I've worked with lots of controllers and this has been the simplest device to get going with, compared to anything I have seen to date and the one which gives instant, tangible gratification and results to the user.

Go to the MOdules tab and find your module.

On the module settings page, you must select a Channel Messaging Mode for the channel that you want to log.

Select "Auto Message Analog Input" by Channel Messaging Mode to have the module send data to ioBridge.com on a regular basis. The last step is to enter an Auto Message Period to something less than or equal to the data log frequency. If you are data logging every ten minutes, auto message every 300 seconds or so.

I hope that helps you. You are getting close!

Yaay! Success :D

Everything's working fine now - thanks for the information!

Going to play with a servo controller board today...

iobridge, I am trying out the new humidty board I made and am having similar trouble.  I went to the module channel page...setting for that channel...and selected "Push Analog Value Periodically" at 60 seconds.  Is this right?  I didn't see the "Auto Message Analog Input".  Not sure if this feature has changed.

How is it now that I would view this data?  Is that via the View Data Log?

We changed how we refer to pushed messages. We use Push vs Message - we think it is clearer. Message got confused with email.

Push Analog Value Periodically is right for you if you want send the analog value periodically.

Could you update the wiki (http://www.iobridge.net/wiki/data-logging) with the new terminology and possibly better direction on setting the channel settings? The screen shot of the working log is nice, but some screen shots of the setup for the different scenarios would be helpful.

I had looked at the wiki but was also stumped until I found this post...

Hi,

No graphs on 3 out of 4 channels -- widgets and their graphs are fine -- followed all steps here bu no luck.  On Module Data Log View page (where one has 24 hr; 7 day and 30 day options) -- I have no graphs?

Any help appreciated

So that I use my time wisely -- and not repeat myself here or through support - what is the reasonable expectation for support questions to be answered?  I have the question above (and a few others) into Support as of Thursday night with no answer as of Sat night -- what should I expect before iassume my questions are missed and I need to take a second initiative to get help?

Any input appreciated?

Thanks

Sorry I did miss your reply.

If your logs do not have data, it's because the module is not pushing data to the server. Under each channel of the module, you will have to set Push Analog Input Value Periodically and set the Period to 300.

I/O channel settings:
Channel Push Update Mode: Push Analog Input Value Periodically
Auto Message Period: greater than zero and less than or equal to the data log frequency

For more information: http://www.iobridge.net/wiki/data-logging

The previous issue with the module probably caused the data logging setup to not set the setting correctly on the module.

It's all working thank you -- finally upgraded to IE8 and that did it -- IE8 seemd to be important...
