Gather Data from Cars?
« on: October 05, 2009, 01:24:49 PM »
Would it be possible to gather data from someone traveling in a car?  Let's say the driver adjusted a lever on the dashboard to a certain position (which we rig up with a physical sensor) - could that position be transmitted to a central repository?

Perhaps the initial read is done via RFID, transmitted to the user's mobile phone, then to a central repository?  Maybe it's just a bluetooth thing?

Sorry if I'm in the wrong place ...

Thanks!

yes and no.

you could do that, but you would also probably want to tether a phone to laptop to make an internet connection. at that point, hardware like the arduino logging to the computer might make more sense.

at this point in time, the iobridge module does not allow you to log data locally.

another idea, on most recent cars, there is an obdII port that you can read data from. you can probably find an adapter that has serial control, which the iobridge does work with. again, there probably is an option that you could use with a laptop.
