C4.1 Upgrade problem [Solved]
« on: November 25, 2009, 11:28:45 AM »
My upgrade goes through after a couple of bad data errors, and I get the "F".

I push and hold the link button, and the "F" turns into a "-".

Very soon after that the site gives me an "Incorrect checksum" error, and my module will eventually reset.

Do you have everything unplugged from the module (expect for power and network)?

Oh, yeah. By the book upgrade. I have tried 3 or 4 times with the same results.

Does the checksum error mean that data didn't get transferred correctly?

I did get a couple of errors about data problems, but they quit before I ever saw an "F". The display would do its circle of segments, but would stop when the transfer errors were indicated on the web site.

So, I thought everything would be fine when I got the "F".

OK, I just tried again and succeeded.

I got the idea that my widgets were somehow getting into the transfer, so I disabled them, tried the upgrade again and it went through without a hitch.

Works, now to figure out how to take advantage of it.

You were on the right track.  When a firmware upgrade happens all the normal traffic from widgets and alerts is supposed to stop.  I can think of one scenario where you could interfere with the upgrade process and that would be having the module configuration page open in a different browser while upgrading.

It's a good thing we do a checksum of the downloaded firmware before it's burned permanently!

I didn't have any of that happening, but the upgrade process checks did work until I had clear and precise data present.

It did just what it was supposed to do, and I'm happy!  ;D

  ???
Looks like I’m experiences the same Upgrade issues.
Even when I get the ‘F’ it errors out with the ‘ERROR: Incorrect checksum’ message.
And then it resets or I have to hard reboot it with the power plug.
Only power and network are plugged in and all Widgets are disabled.

I had the same issues. f, button, error. I used the repeat until process and it eventually worked.
I did note that the looping bar on the 7seg display would stop or pause from time to time during the download. Possibly IP congestion somewhere along the line from ioBridge to the module?

That could be the issue, but I have a fairly simple setup. And I was having the issue using my work network as well as at home.  BUT it worked early this morning. ;D

We were updating some code on the server last night.  That might have interfered with some module commands.
