Control Lamp
« on: June 23, 2010, 02:15:03 PM »
I've never dealt with x10 and i've been researching it for a while and decided before I go out and try to mess with it I would ask for some advice.

All i need to be able to do is turn a lamp on and off. Pretty Simple.

From what I have researched I'm thinking I need:

X10 Smart Board (SB-4)
X10 Powerline Interface (PSC04)

Now I'm trying to understand how these work.
Obviously the Smart Board plugs into the iobridge and the powerline interface plugs into the wall and then the smart board. Then where does the lamp plug into and how easy is it to create the widget to turn the lamp on and off?

Also is it possible to just use a relay board instead? And if yes how hard would that be to integrate? Im in the US if that helps in any way.

Check out the ioBridge Wiki page. It will tell you exactly how to get started
http://www.iobridge.com/technology/x10-home-automation.html

You'll need
X10 Smart Board (SB-4)
X10 Powerline Interface (PSC04)

...and you will need to buy an X10 lamp or appliance module (not on ioBridge store)
