thermistor connection
« on: July 14, 2010, 05:45:04 AM »
paypal doesn't like me because I shifted within New Zealand, so I can't buy the temperature sensor from you at present. I have a 10k thermistor that seems similar to your spec sheet, and some deviation from your lookup table will be ok. Newbie question: do I just connect it between analog and +5, or how?
Thanks!

The thermistor will connect between the analog input and +5v.  But you also need a resistor between the analog input and ground.  The value of the resistor is set by the type of thermistor you use (check the datasheet).  For example, our temperature sensor uses a 10k resistor.

Basically, you're creating a voltage divider circuit with the thermistor as one of the resistors.
